Main cities near

  • Jerez de la Frontera: Beautiful city famous for its Sherry wine and its cellars (organized tours), flamenco singing and dancing, its historical center and the Spanish horse riding shows. In Jerez you will find a lot of impressive historical buildings (palaces, churches, walks, ...) There are different routes to enjoy, such as the Flamenco Route and the Sherry Wine Route. A visit to a Sherry winery (Domecq, Garvey, Sandeman, González Byass, ...) and the spectacle of the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art is a Must. In addition, the Horse Fair in Jerez, which is the first week of May (Flamenco music and dancing all around, horseback riding, carriages,...) its a unforgettable visit. 

  • Sevilla: Andalucia capital. It has the largest historical center of Europe in which are the main places of interest of the city, the Cathedral of the Giralda, Alcázar and Torre del Oro. The Annual April Fair that lasts a whole week and where flamenco dancing late into the night is an attraction in itself. Easter in Sevilla is amazing. 

  • Cádiz: Is on a small peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. The towers and domes give the city an oriental look. It is the oldest city in Europe (more than 3,000 years old). we recommend a nice walk through the old town. Apart from a large port city and its beautiful sandy beaches, Cadiz is also known as the carnival City of Europe (second week of february).

  • El Puerto de Santa María:  Its also home to one of the most important Sherry wine cellars (Osborne). It has also excellent beaches such as Valdelagrana and Fuentebravia. Famous for its seafood .

  • Sanlucár de Barrameda: Despite its age, is a modern city famous for its port of export of the famous Manzanilla. It is like a seaside resort through its fine sand beach and you can enjoy delicious fish tapas ( And prawns!) In the Ribera del Marisco. Traditional horse races are held every year in August and are a sight not to be missed.

  • Ronda: Located on a rock in which the Guadalevin river has cut a deep gorge known as "El Tajo", on which the three bridges of Ronda are built. The ravine separates the old and new city. The bullring of Ronda is the oldest bullring in Spain. It also has many antique shops.

In the middle of Nature

  • The Natural Parks of Sierra de Grazalema (1,654 m) and "Los Alcornocales" are among the largest natural protected areas in Spain.  â€‹

  • Sierra de Grazalema is a beautiful area to practice trekking with a wide variety of landscapes. The mountains, Lake Zahara, late spring snowy mountains, olive-covered hills, oaks and rare silver springs (a living fossil). Because the area is so varied, flora and fauna as well they are. There are hiking trails of varying difficulty and length. Beautiful mountain villages like Ubrique (with countless shops / workshops of leather crafts: handbags, purses, cazdoras, ... at a good price), Grazalema, Zahara de la Sierra, Benahoma, El Bosque, ... are part of this beautiful nature reserve and definitely worth a visit. Arcos de la Frontera is the gateway to the Sierra de Grazalema.

  • Los Alcornocales Natural Park is the largest natural park in the province of Cadiz. Etá formed by a series of low mountain ridges covered with Mediterranean scrub along with some formidable masses of cork oaks, the main forests of this tree species in Spain. There are several marked hiking trails, not to be missed.

  • Doñana National Park. The largest natural park in Europe with more than 100,000 hectares, essential for all the fauna of Europe, especially for migratory birds. The park is located on the Atlantic coast at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River. There are salty lakes and lagoons. A large number of migratory birds nest here: flamingos, geese, cranes, storks, ... In the dry area there are pines and cork oaks with an abundance of wild boars and deer. A large colony of the Spanish royal eagle is represented. It is the only place in Europe where the Iberian lynx survives, in danger of extinction.

Kids activities

  • Families with children can have fun in the area. From explorations (nature, culture..) along with parents can also enjoy children. But, if you want an a la carte excursion for your children, ... visit with them and the swimsuit:

  • AquaSherry Park: A water park between Jerez and El Puerto de Santa María. 

  • Isla Magica (big amusement park) and Agua Magica (water park inside the theme park): located in Seville. It is a largest Amusement Park located in Seville, set in the discovery of America. Unforgettable.

  • In addition, the bigger children can enjoy in the area a lot of activities like Paintball, Karting, Laserspace....

  • A beach day: there are many to choose from

  • Visit a bee farm or crocodile farm

  • Kayak, sailing and nautical activities in Lake of Arcos de la Frontera (5 minutes from Cortijo Escondido). The prices are really low.

  • Attend a bullfight: It is an unrepeatable experience that you will never forget. All of them can be reached quickly from Cortijo Escondido in less than an hour and return to relax when the body says enough.

  • Golf Arcos Gardens: 18 hole high level golf course just a stone's throw away. There are good prices for green fees.  

  • Visits to wineries (Bodegas): Those of Jerez, Sanlucar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa Maria, world famous for the wine of Jerez. Fine, Camomile, Amontillado and Oloroso are the main types, do not stop to try them. Wineries such as Domecq, Garvey and González Byass in Jerez, Osborne (El Puerto) and Pedro Romero (Sanlúcar) are worth a visit.

  • Ruta del Toro Bravo: If you want to see some of the most spectacular animals and with more aesthetic and artistic value do not stop doing this tour. In it you can see different Cattle ranches where bulls graze in their natural environment. The route begins in Jerez de la Frontera and passes through towns like San Jose del Valle, Paterna de Rivera, Medina Sidonia, ... to finish in Tarifa.  

  • Circuit de Velocidad de Jerez: Half way between Jerez and Arcos de la Frontera is the Circuit de Velocidad where every year in spring is developed the Great World Price of Motorcycling. Formula 1 teams also regularly conduct testing and testing on a regular basis.

  • Via Verde: a 36-kilometer route of hiking and cycling through breathtaking nature. Beautiful views of the hills with the best villages, olive groves, cereal fields where the Via Verde runs smoothly. The route has about thirty tunnels, which is a special experience. In cities like Olvera, Coripe and Puerto Serrano, you can rent bicycles and there are parking places where visitors can leave their car.

  • Hiking trails: Arcos de la Frontera and the nearby nature parks like Sierra de Grazalema and Los Alcornocales offer a wide range of hiking trails.

  • Costa de la Luz: The Atlantic coast of Cadiz gives you a warm welcome in the lively fishing villages, happy traditional summer parties and homemade tapas in a cozy cafe. The stunning and vast white sand beaches of Sánlucar, Puerto de Santa María, Cadiz, Barbate, Conil, Canos de Meca, ... where the Atlantic and the Mediterranean come together are an unforgettable must.

  • Horse riding: In Arcos de la Frontera there are several horse riding and organized excursions for horse riding.

White Villages Route

  • Arcos de la Frontera is the regional capital of the white villages of the Sierra de Cádiz. Bird lovers

  • Our houses are very well located for bird lovers and we have already had very enthusiastic birdwatchers. Very regularly there are birds of prey (eagles, vultures, owls,...) flying high on our garden. Andalusia has a very abundant bird population. Think of the nearby natural parks of Grazalema, Alcornocales and Doñana (thousands of flamingoes).
